Casper has had a very important job today in his role as Chief Unicorn for one of our birthday parties ... what a superstar!

14 November 2018

To our valued clients,

We hope you have enjoyed your time with us this year, we thank you for your support and look forward to you continuing to spend your leisure time with us in 2019.

Regrettably, the costs of running the LEC are ever increasing. There was such a grass shortage this year that hay was being put out in the fields in the summer months which was thankfully unheard of in previous years. (Despite this, the 3 musketeers, Tattie, Wasabi and Petra spent their time exploring the local eateries, being the neighbours’ gardens, in their quest for midnight snacks…oops! Those among us who know these ponies well will appreciate that they are already fuller figured ladies!).

We have welcomed a number of new human and equine faces this year and waved others off to pastures new. We have welcomed Adi, Fabs, Pippa and James to the team of instructors and wished Michelle well in her re-location to Bournemouth.  Turning to the four legged variety, recent additions to the ridden team include Foxy, Josie and Petra as well as new livery Luna, and Anna and Dennis have recently arrived who will be used for our smallest riders when they are ready, probably later in 2019.

We have recently started pilates and riding as a joint session; we are all familiar with our bodies having a stronger and a weaker side yet perhaps give less consideration to the effect that this has on the horse that you are riding and its ability to carry you effectively and complete the tasks that you are asking them to do. If you are interested in finding out more information or having a trial session please enquire in the Office.

GeeGee’s Café

For those of you who don’t know, GeeGee’s Café has undergone a major overhaul in recent months and offers a reasonably priced menu for meals and snacks open six days per week (closed on a Monday) open to both riders and non-riders of the LEC.

Showjumping Training

Johnathan Bowman has been making regular visits to the LEC providing showjumping training for all levels; if you would like to be kept up to date with his future visits, please inform the office.

New price list 1st January 2019

To contribute to our additional expenditure, our new price list will come into effect from 1st January 2019. Group lessons and shared 45 minute and 60 minute lessons for two riders have remained at the same price. The 30 minute private lessons have also remained cheaper pro rata than the longer private lessons as this lesson is intended for those requiring a lead rein lesson, you are of course welcome to have a 30 minute lesson if you are more advanced should you so wish.

You may wish to consider purchasing a new block of lessons in 2018 in order to take advantage of our current rates.

From January 2019 we will be operating an additional offer whereby you pay for twenty lessons and receive 4 lessons free; please note that lessons must be taken within six months. The split can be for 10 private lessons and 10 group lessons or 20 of each. If you buy a new block of 20 lessons before 1 January 2019 at the current rate you will still receive 4 lessons free.

Benefits of recreational riding

We are probably preaching to the converted here, however in 2010 the British Horse Society commissioned a study on the physical, psychological and well-being benefits of recreational horse riding, the summary and the report can be found here:

It feels too early to wish everybody a Happy Christmas / Seasons Greetings so we will finish with best wishes from all at The London Equestrian Centre
