The LEC joined the Pony Club Scheme in September 2002

It has been a great success with all our younger riders and keeps going from strength to strength.

Pony Club takes place every other Friday evening between 6.30pm and 8.30pm. On most weeks the children ride for forty-five minutes, enjoying every kind of riding including flatwork, jumping and on occasion gymkhana games.

They then spend forty-five minutes on the yard for a practical lecture and demonstration on various aspects of stable management such as feeding, rugging and shoeing. There are lectures for the Pony Club tests.

Pony Club members have the opportunity to earn Pony Club badges. Our last test day many of the children passed and therefore obtained badges in shoeing, points of the horse and that old favourite, mucking out. They are now working towards badges in boots, bandages and feeding.

At various times there are Pony Club competitions where the children get together for gymkhana games, dressage and showjumping.

In the summer "Pony Weeks" season, we have a dedicated Pony Week exclusively for Pony Club members.

We present the children with Pony Club Awards.

These evenings like our Pony Weeks are an excellent introduction for children not only into the pleasures of riding but also teaching them a sense of responsibility in a safe environment.
